School Readiness Program
Our one-of-a-kind Learning to Fly program helps your child take the next step in their learning journey with confidence and curiosity.
Learning to Fly – Ready for School, Ready for Life
Play. Discover. Grow.
Building Confidence for School
Our focus is on developing the whole child, including:
-
Social and emotional confidence
-
Independence and self-help skills
-
Communication and language development
-
Early literacy and numeracy foundations through play
-
Problem-solving, curiosity and persistence
-
Confidence participating in routines and group learning
Through meaningful play and strong relationships, children build resilience, develop a sense of responsibility and see themselves as capable learners.
Rich Learning Experiences
Children engage in a wide range of learning experiences that support their development across:
-
Literacy and language
-
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and problem-solving
-
Creative arts and expression
-
Physical development and wellbeing
-
Social and emotional learning
These experiences support children to become confident communicators, independent thinkers and active participants in their learning.
School Readiness Packs
Each child enrolled in the Learning to Fly program receives a School Readiness Pack, including:
-
Backpack
-
Polo shirt
-
Bucket Hat
The packs help create a sense of belonging and excitement about the transition to school, while also supporting children to practise independence and responsibility.
Working in Partnership with Families
Strong partnerships with families are central to supporting a successful transition to school. Throughout the year, families can expect:
-
Regular updates and learning stories
-
Parent-teacher interviews
-
School readiness information sessions
-
Transition to School Statements or end-of-year summaries (state dependent)

Connections and Partnerships with Schools
A key part of Learning to Fly is building strong connections with local primary schools. Where possible, this includes:
-
Excursions or visits to local schools
-
Opportunities for school staff to visit the service
-
Sharing transition information (with family consent)
-
Aligning expectations to support continuity of learning
These partnerships help children become familiar with their future school environment and support a smoother, more confident transition.
Real-Life Transition Experiences
To further support independence and readiness, children also participate in practical experiences such as:
-
A Term 4 packed lunch program to practise managing lunch boxes and routines
-
School visits and community excursions
-
Graduation celebrations
-
Transition documentation shared with schools
These experiences help children feel prepared, capable and excited for their next step.
A Flexible, Continuous Learning Environment
Unlike sessional kindergarten, Insight’s School Readiness Program operates year-round with extended hours, meals included and consistent learning. This allows educators to develop a strong understanding of each child over time and provide continuity throughout their final year before school.
We’re committed to making the transition to school a rewarding and successful experience for your child. At Insight Early Learning, your child’s future is bright, and we’re excited to be part of their journey.
